Being a mom is already badass in and of itself (you know that, I know that, we both know that) but if you're looking to take it up a notch, here are some tips to help you become even more of a badass mom:
Prioritize self-care: I have said this before and I will definitely say it again, 'put your own oxygen mask on before putting the mask on your children. Taking care of yourself is essential to being a badass mom. If self-care time is time you cannot currently afford, maybe think long and hard about your priorities and your boundaries that you set. Make sure to schedule in time for self-care, whether that's getting a massage, going for a walk, or simply taking a relaxing bath.
Set boundaries: I just said this above and it is worth repeating. Don't be afraid to say "no" or set boundaries with your family and others. It's important to make time for your own needs and to ensure that your family respects your time and energy.
Embrace imperfection: Being a badass mom means embracing imperfection and not striving for perfection. The first thing that leaves my priority list when I am busy is laundry. I am not exaggerating to say that my family has been picking clean clothes off my bedroom floor for the better part of two weeks. Everyone will be ok. Right now I have to prioritize other things. Recognize that it's okay to make mistakes or be less than perfect.
Be confident: Confidence is key to being a badass mom. Believe in yourself and your abilities as a mother, as a wife, as a friend, as a person and trust that you're doing the best you can for your family and the people in your life..
Lead by example: Being a role model for your children is an important part of being a badass mom. Lead by example and show your children what it means to be strong, independent, and compassionate. In this vain, if your daughter came to you and said she needed to lose 5lbs, what would you say? Everything you do is a social modeling for the people in your house. Eat well-balanced diet, move your body, stand up straight and exemplify the bad ass that you are.
