Get more out of your day!

We all want to get more out of our day. Whether that is more action, more do do lists checked off, more time with friends or more workouts. One easy way to get more out of your day is to start your day a little bit earlier. "Jill, you are the only person who enjoys waking up @ 5:00 AM." That might be true, but even if you start by waking up 5 minutes earlier for (5) days, that's an extra 25 minutes and a great start.

Convinced? Ready to get started?

Step One: Set an earlier bedtime. Think about what time you actually plan on turning the light off and back track from there, when do you want to get in bed, and before that when do you wash your face and brush you teeth. Set an alarm on your phone (or a reminder) and do it. Even if its (5) minutes.

According to an article in Business Insider: Scientists who've studied [waking up earlier] have shown that speed and accuracy at completing tasks are both better in the morning.

Step Two: Create a digital detox one hour before bed. Set your alarm, put on calming music and then do not touch electronics again before you turn off the lights. Doom scrolling does not create a wind down effect on your brain. All alerts should be off as well.

Step Three: Be aware of your later day caffeine intake. According to the Cleveland Clinic, "Six hours after caffeine is consumed, half of it is still in your body. It can take up to 10 hours to completely clear caffeine from your bloodstream." How might a 1:00 coffee affect your 10:00 bedtime?

Step Four: Sleep with your curtains open. The most natural way to wake up is by the light of the sun!

Step Five: When your alarm goes off, count down in your head "5, 4, 3, 2, 1...." and then GET OUT OF BED. Period, you are off like a rocket, lets go!!

Is waking up the #dosomethingdifferent task this week?
